PedoscanThe Diers Formetric Pedoscan is a addition that adds great capability to the Formetric family of products. The Pedoscan is a thin forceplate that records both static and dynamic pressures on the plantar surface of both feet. Because of its thin low weight profile no structural changes to the floor are needed for its use. Dynamic use is not compromised by patient awareness of the plate on the floor. Static use:The pedoscan records at a user set frequency of up to 300 Hz. This scan while called static has a user set time function where 'pictures' are taken at the set frequency. Over 5 seconds 1500 images are taken and averaged to yield a four quadrant (forefoot and rearfoot left and right) results. Center of left and right foot pressure, center of body mass, toe out angulations, are graphically displayed. Dynamic use:In the dynamic testing the patient will walk across force plate from either direction to record both the left and right foot patterns. This continues until the practitioner stops the exam and each footstep is individually recorded and analyzed. The results give the time of contact for each side the pressure and movement of the center of pressure for each foot. Practioner evaluation of the results enables a more comprehensive picture of any anomalies that can be addressed in exercise, orthotic prescription, or other modality. |
